Exclusive, one-of-a-kind bowl handmade by Sofia Roe.

Something Different is inspired by a fascination with curves, circles and the natural world.

This piece was produced using three coats of Mayco Alabaster, following by brush strokes and added details using Mayco Black Adventurine and Copper Wash.

The alabaster colour is a semi-opaque white soft matte glaze that breaks over texture which picks up the characteristics of the clay body due to its white semi-opaque finish. The black adventurine is a matt, mottled black and metallic dark copper glaze with a tendency to 'move' if overglazed. The copper wash was added at the end to add mobility when layered onto the black adventurine. What a stunning combination!

This bowl is perfect for use as a decorative sculpture, and strong enough to be used as a functional plate (perhaps a fruit bowl as shown in the images).

  • Stoneware is fired at very high temperatures making the clay strong enough to be used as dinnerware. It retains heat well and distributes it evenly, and is suitable for oven use.

Although stoneware is dishwasher safe, hand-washing is always recommended to preserve its original appearance.
